Christmas with Grandma Hyatt

Posted on

Presents!! Zach had just woken up from his nap, and smiling is hard to do at that time of the day!

He really is excited!

Blocks! We love blocks!

They had to be tested out immediately, of course.

Seriously, he is happy. And chubby.

Once he knows we are going to eat, we get a teeny smile….

Ben tries on some of Grandma Hyatt’s presents!

Group shot!

Attempt #2!

This pic was actually from today, but it shows that those blocks go to good use! Zach did this all by himself! We might have a little architect on our hands!

Christmas!!!!!!!

The countdown started well over a month ago, when Ben still had 88 sleeps until Santa was coming…. and he finally came!

The video quality is not the best (not sure why)…

Lots of pictures, very little commentary:

Yes, Ben is too big. No, he does not care.

Merry Christmas!!!

Gingerbread Houses

Posted on

Ben has been begging for WEEKS to decorate some gingerbread houses! It was finally time this weekend !

Look at that precision icing application!

Zach’s house DID have candy on it…

But he was more into the ‘eating’ than the ‘decorating!’

This is what happens when you ask a 3 year old to smile nicely next to his house.

This, too.

The finished work of art!

And the whole village!

Decorate!

And….the tree is decorated!

Ben definitely enjoyed putting the candy canes on the best. Over and over and over again!

Zach, however, was convinced that the boxes belonged in the tree.

Zach’s decorations!

Ben got the honors and got to put the star on top!

O Christmas Tree

Posted on

It was a COLD day to get a tree, so everyone got all bundled up!

We found the tree! Zach supervises and Ben prepares to catch the tree if when it falls.

Draggin’ it back to the car!

While we waited for Josh to tie it to the roof, Zach had a grand time hugging all the Zach-sized trees around!

Snow Fort!

Posted on

We had snow for Halloween, so I guess it made sense that we had it for Thanksgiving, too! The boys were BEGGING to go out as soon as they woke up (….at 4:30….).

It was nice sticky snow, so they got their first real snow fort!

They were excited here…little did they know what was to come!

The snow melted in just a few days, but the boys can’t wait for the next snowstorm and the next snow fort!!

Things to teach your little brother

Posted on

Zach knows how to eat yogurt…. but Ben felt the need to teach him again a few days ago!

Obviously, these pics are pre-haircut. They were both pretty shaggy!

He “helped” him with the first few bites…

And then did a great demonstration, complete with sound effects, for Zach to follow!

Zach’s First Haircut!

And the baby curls are gone. :(

This was about the time when we gave Ben his first haircut, and Zach really was due!

A before…

And an after!!!

Mr. Smartypants

And….he writes!

Ben had been writing “A B C” lately, and getting pretty good at drawing suns….. but all of a sudden yesterday he sat himself at the kitchen table with a crayon and a piece of paper and wrote his name! Go Ben!!

Then Daddy started telling him how to spell other important words… (..Josh? Really? :) )… and he’s a writer!

Couch Fort!

Josh was home with the boys last weekend, and I’m not entirely sure how he managed to get pics of Zach in a fort without Ben…but he did!
